Why Multi-Platform Presence Matters

Repurposing your content across TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn raises your value to brands. Even small channels pay off through Spark Ads and paid usage rights, making a multi-platform presence far more attractive than a single viral moment.

Your primary platform gets you in the door. Repurposing to TikTok, YouTube Shorts and LinkedIn is what raises your value and makes you the kind of creator brands want to work with long term.

If you create content and one platform is your home base, building a presence on the others (TikTok, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube/YouTube Shorts, Newsletter) is one of the most direct ways to increase your value to brands.

Take an educator, data scientist or marketer with 90,000 followers on Instagram who is already working with exciting brands. That's a strong position. If you want to take your content seriously, the next step is repurposing it to other channels.

Of course, easier said than done, but that part of being a creator 🙂 -- making sure your content is distributed and repurposed. At minimum, that means TikTok and YouTube Shorts, and it especially means LinkedIn, which is booming right now with Gen Z and millennial audiences.

The same applies in reverse.

If LinkedIn is your home base and you have 100,000 followers across text posts, images and video, building real audiences on other platforms can increase your rates anywhere from 10% to 50% or more. Not because you posted more, but because a brand can now reach your audience in more than one place.

Don't post for the sake of posting, though.

Format the content properly for each platform and adjust the caption so it reads naturally there. The video can stay the same. The packaging shouldn't.

Repurposing also isn't only about finding new audiences. It's about syndication.

Say you have an additional 8,000 followers on TikTok. That may look small next to your Instagram with 90,000 followers, but a brand may like your content and your image and want to put Spark Ads behind that post so it reaches a far wider audience than your following. When it comes to paid usage rights, some brands only want to work on that channel. They don't necessarily care about your follower count there because they know they're going to boost the video. That is something you can factor in when you price that channel.

Most people assume a smaller platform isn't worth building. Brands often see it differently.

Overall, showing up across platforms makes you more commercially attractive. When brands are looking for creators to work with long term, they want someone who appeals to wider audiences and shows up in more than one place, not a single viral moment on Instagram.
